    The first month

    • The first few days, small scabs will form at the base of each hair transplant. As with any healing process, the small scabs will itch more and more and then fall off as dandruff for about 10-15 days.
1 month later, the hair that is still present in the transplanted roots will fall out due to a lower oxygen supply. This is a perfectly natural process. Since the hair roots are only weakened and not damaged, they reproduce healthy new hair that will be visible 3 to 5 months after the procedure.

From the 3rd to the 5th month after the intervention

    • From the 3rd month, you will feel the new hair start to grow.
    • Although this is often felt to be an inconvenience to the patient, irritation and itching are part of the growth process as new hair tries to come out to the surface. It is
    • important not to pierce any buttons that may appear!
    • At first, the hair will still be thin and thin, but gradually it will gain thickness and density.

    1 year after the intervention

The final result of a transplant is seen definitively after about 12 months. The transplanted hair then grows exactly like existing hair and does not require special care.

After the intervention and after a few months, you will be invited to share your transplant experience with Hairmedico. Your Testimonial will improve our services and give an idea of our quality of work and reassure future patients.

    Detailed Suggestions For Hair Transplant

    After Hair Transplant Care

You might be wondering what to do and what not to do after your hair transplant procedure. Let us start by saying that the eight-hour hair transplanting procedure was the easiest part. Your entire attention and care must be put into what you must do after the procedure.

During your recovery, you can seek advice from your doctor about how to care for your transplanted hair in consultation meetings held by clinics like Hairmedico in Turkey. An experienced hair transplant surgeon of Hairmedico, Dr. Aslan, offers the following advice:

    1. Don’t wash your hair within the first 24 hours after the surgery
    2. Avoid exercise, swimming, any direct exposure to the sunlight, or any damage or pressure to your head during the first two weeks
    3. Avoid using nicotine products or alcoholic beverages during the first week
    4. Use the special shampoo your doctor gives you when you start to wash your head, be gentle while washing, and use warm water
    5. Change your sheets and pillowcases frequently to avoid any infection
    6. Follow a healthy and balanced diet your doctor suggests

Keep in mind that after the first three months, you will notice your new hair growth. The best outcomes, though, will be evident in a year following the operation. The path may be long, but the outcomes will be secure and long-lasting.

    Alcohol After Hair Transplant

You might be curious about drinking alcohol after getting a hair transplant. Most clinics will tell you not to if you conduct an online search. There’s a reason why you should avoid consuming alcohol for at least a week after hair transplant surgery.

To prevent complications, Hairmedico, a hair transplant facility with experience in Turkey, advises against drinking alcohol for at least a week after the procedure. Thus, alcohol after a hair transplant may cause the following:

    1. Since alcohol causes dehydration and low blood pressure, it might lead to more swelling and pain in your head
    2. Alcohol may cause more bleeding in the wounds
    3. Alcohol will delay the healing process of your stitches
    4. Alcohol increases the risk of infection
    5. Alcohol increases the stress level and hence, it might damage your remaining hair

    Hair Transplant Swelling

Following a hair transplant, swelling is extremely common. You experience injected fluid retention in your system because your surgeon injects local anesthetic into your donor and recipient sites. This is the reason why swelling occurs following a hair transplant.

Your head, temples, and eyelids may begin to swell a few days following your hair transplant procedure. But don’t be alarmed by this. If you take the medication as instructed by your doctor, this side effect will pass quickly.

Putting an ice pack on your head and cheeks while recovering from a hair transplant may be helpful. Long rests, avoiding intense exercise, and consuming lots of fluids will all be beneficial. To reduce swelling, your doctor might also recommend a headband for you to wear at night. Be sure to put it on before bed and take it off when you wake up.

After surgery, swelling often goes away after a week. Make sure to check it with your doctor if it doesn’t.

    Hair Transplant Scabbing

One commonly encountered side effect of hair transplantation is scabs. They are a way for your body to respond to the wound by covering it with a crust. When the injury-related head trauma begins to heal, they typically fall out.

On days three or four following surgery, scabs will start to appear, much like swelling does. After a week, they might have covered every area that was transplanted. So, is there a way for us to remove scabs on our own? you might ask.

It’s crucial to stick to your doctor’s advice and try to stay away from anything that can harm your scalp. You should wash your hair according to the directions your doctor gives you and use the lotion your doctor will provide you as part of your post-hair transplant care.

Avoid rubbing your scalp when washing your head; instead, gently massage it. Additionally, follow Dr. Aslan’s advice and use a paper towel or soft cotton towel, as suggested by Hairmedico. Remember that you may start washing your head at least one day after the procedure and continue doing so for 10 to 14 days. After 10 to 14 days following your procedure, the scabs will likely fall out.

FAQs on Hair Transplant After Care

    1. Is swelling permanent after a hair transplant procedure?

Not at all.  Hair transplant swelling often begins two days after the procedure and reaches its peak on days four or five. It normally goes away after a week.

    1. Can I exercise during my hair transplant recovery time?

Heavy exercise is advised to be avoided throughout your hair transplant recovery time, according to hair transplant clinics like Hairmedico. It’s best to avoid any type of exercise the first week following surgery. If you desire, you can go for short walks. But, try to get as much rest as you can.

    1. What will happen if I attempt to pull the scabs off my head after a hair transplant?

After hair transplantation, you shouldn’t use your nails to remove the scabs. Your scalp and grafts could be harmed by this. Scabbing is your body’s natural response to the wounds in the donor and recipient sites, and it will go away a week or two after the operation. Follow your doctor’s advice and gently wash your head while applying the lotion your doctor will provide.
